Meet the Team
Dr David Cunnington
Dr David Cunnington is a specialist sleep physician delivering a quality healthcare to clients with complex sleep problems and promoting sleep health through education, research and advocacy.
He is co-director of Melbourne Sleep Disorders Centre, where he practices, seeing people to diagnose and treatment a range of sleep disorders.
David undertook training in sleep medicine both in Australia and in Boston at Harvard Medical School as part of completing his specialist medical training as a specialist sleep physician. In addition to training in sleep medicine, David has international qualifications in behavioural sleep medicine being a Diplomat Behavioral Sleep Medicine (US Board of Behavioral Sleep Medicine), which means he is expert in using non-drug treatments such as cognitive behavioural therapy to manage sleep problems, David is also a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT, Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists) and as such has recognised credentials in sleep measurement using a range of techniques.

Dr Jun (JK) Khoo
Dr Khoo is a specialist respiratory and sleep physician, working with Dr Cunnington, providing consultations at Melbourne Sleep Disorders Centre.
Dr. Khoo attained his medical degree from The University of Adelaide, and had undertaken specialist training in Adelaide and across Alfred, Monash and Western Health in Melbourne. Dr Khoo’s training also included working at Melbourne Sleep Disorders Centre as a Sleep Fellow for 12 months learning about all aspects of sleep medicine.
In addition to obstructive sleep apnoea and sleep disordered breathing, Dr Khoo has clinical interests in insomnia, hypersomnia, narcolepsy, circadian rhythm disorders, restless legs syndrome and periodic limb movement disorder.
Dr Khoo is also a specialist in respiratory medicine and is experienced in general and peri-operative medicine and intensive care. He also has accreditation in Chest Ultrasound. Dr. Khoo has published research papers in international journals, and is a member of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand and the Australasian Sleep Association.

Sleep Medicine Fellows
Dr Cunnington trains specialists in sleep medicine who spend up to 12 months working with him at Melbourne Sleep Disorders Centre to gain experience in treating complex sleep problems.
Dr Monica Hatch (07 Feb 2022 – 03 Feb 2023)
Dr Hatch will be working with Dr Cunnington throughout 2022 completing her training in sleep medicine, having already completed advanced training in respiratory medicine. Dr Hatch graduated from medical school in 2012 and has worked in a range of settings both in Melbourne and Darwin.
